Interruption of the operation of the Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague in connection with the spread of COVID-19 disease until further notice

On the basis of the crisis measure approved by Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 201 of March 12, 2020, pursuant to Article I (2), the personal presence of students in collective forms of teaching and examinations is prohibited during their studies at universities pursuant to Act No. 111/1998 Coll. as amended (Higher Education Act), due to health threats associated with the detection of coronavirus (known as SARS CoV-2) causing COVID-19 disease.

With regard to the protection of public health, direct teaching, personal consultations for students and examinations are completely abolished, all operations (study department, library and study room, gastronomic facilities, etc.) are closed, all events are cancelled (e.g. conferences, SVOČ 2020, lifelong learning courses, Grandmother's recipes culinary event) and serving lunch at the Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague (IHM) is cancelled. The operation at IHM is interrupted and the building of the school at Svídnická 506, 181 00 Prague 8, is completely closed until further notice.

Full-time and part-time studies are replaced by distance learning. The teaching process has not been completed and continues. Following the announcement of the National Accreditation Office for Higher Education, IHM may, in this emergency situation, use the tools of distance education, regardless of the form of study of a particular accredited degree program. Guidelines for distance education have been sent both to all students and academics. Failure to complete compulsory attendance at seminars, exercises or practice is automatically excused for students, in addition to the provisions of the Study and Examination Regulations of IHM.

Academic staff are obliged to communicate with students on an ongoing basis electronically by e-mail and to use other possible information and communication technologies (e.g. video conferencing), exceptionally by telephone. It is essential to keep contactless form of communication. There is still an obstacle on the side of the employer for all employees (home office) and the employer's decision is based on the Section 208 of Act No. 262/2006 Coll., The Labour Code, as amended.

Arrivals and departures of all Erasmus + academic or operational staff and students are banned, except for those students who travelled abroad before March 10, 2020 and who are able to fulfil their study obligations.

The decisions of the CEO and the Rector of IHM come into force and effect on the day of their issue, and the interruption of the operation at IHM is valid until further notice.
