The Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague 8 presents its

4th annual International Conference on
HOSPITALITY, TOURISM AND EDUCATION

 

On Wednesday 24 October 2012 was held at the Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague 4 Annual International Scientific Conference Hospitality, tourism and education focused on the issue of "Innovation and quality services." Plenary session including a panel discussion was held from 10.00 to 12.45 hours. Afternoon section then between 14 and 17 o'clock. Registered a total of 235 persons.

Ing. Kamil Jankovský (Minister for Regional Development), Mgr. Zdeňka Horníková (Member of Parliament and Chair of the Subcommittee on Tourism), and Ing. Rostislav Vondruska (CEO of CzechTourism) have been asked to act as patrons of the conference.

The conference focused on the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field. 215 stakeholders from universities, public and corporate sectors met in a morning plenary session in the afternoon continued professional communications and discussions in six sections. New to the traditional concept of a panel discussion in the plenum to the main theme of the conference.

The draft program attracted wide professional public, as evidenced not only heralded high participation, but also the number and range of written papers published in the Proceedings. A total of 37 posts met. Of these, there were seven major selected for publication in a scientific journal, Czech Hospitality and Tourism Papers, published by the Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague. The special edition focusing on the conference theme is planned for the end of the year.

For these seven posts is only given in the Book of Abstracts. Other contributions in full, sorted by author's name and include the issue of specialized sections. Proceedings of the reviewed papers were published on the conference and distributed to participants.

The participants were welcomed by the Rector of the Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague doc. Ing. Václav Vinš, CSc., which briefly described the intention of participants at the conference ensures the application of ideas and results from the theory and practice. Moderation of the first part of ensuring prof. Ing. Jiří Jindra, CSc., which emphasized the principle of short performances and transferring the focus on forms of discussion and specialized sections. Director of the Department of Tourism of the MRD Aleš Hozdecký characterize current management issues and legislative support for tourism development with emphasis on the creation of the Basic Law on tourism. Ing. Petr Zahradnik, MSc, a prominent expert on EU issues dealt with in brief the current challenges facing the EU and the process of innovation in its activities. Introduction to the issue from the perspective of innovation theory and practice presented by prof. Ing. Jaromír Veber, CSc., Dean of the Faculty of Business Economics in Prague. He stressed the importance of not only tremendous innovation in all areas of economic activity, but also the structure approaches to the issue, the role of theory, research and practical applications.

The subsequent panel discussion was led by Head of Department of Hospitality and Tourism PhDr. Marek Merhaut, Ph.D, MBA.

Basic questions for the participants were:

  • How would you describe innovation and quality in the giant of its existence?
  • In what areas is the effective linkage of research and practice - what form would you consider?
  • What can be improved in cooperation between the public administration and the corporate sector - what is the rational division of activities?

Panelists were chosen with regard to the possibilities of different approaches and perspectives on issues.

From panel discussions proved and brought many interesting ideas and impulses for the further development of the field - for research and for implementation focus.

After the conference will be formulated conclusions from the discussions and suggestions for further training, particularly research activities within the issue mentioned in the title of the conference.
