22th October 2020 (Modified as of December 1, 2020)

 Information for IHM students

in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic (Modified as of December 1, 2020)

By announcing a ban on the free movement of persons, with exceptions, throughout the Czech Republic from 06:00am, October 22, 2020, in connection with the spread of coronavirus SARS CoV-2 causing infectious disease COVID-19 and due to a very bad epidemic situation, the Institute of Hospitality Management in Prague (IHM) reacts to the Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic of October 19, 2020 No. 1074 concerning the restriction of university operations and the prohibition of personal presence of students in university studies, and adopts the following measures with effect from October 22, 2020.

1. ACADEMIC PART

Obligation of personal presence at the workplace

In the period from October 22, 2020, until further notice no academic worker needs to be present in person at the workplace, however, personal presence at the workplace is possible for everyone during the operation of the IHM building, especially with regard to technical equipment and the need to fully provide distance teaching for students. Teaching and office hours can take place remotely in full even outside the workplace.

Following the Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic of October 21, 2020 No. 1078, IHM allows all academic workers to work remotely from their place of residence (home office) as much as possible.

Provision of teaching

Until further notice, teaching will be realized online while respecting the established schedules (lectures, seminars, exercises). Teaching will take place synchronously (video conferencing) and asynchronously (recorded videos). It is completely inadmissible to replace online distance teaching only with remote access.

The teaching of students of the combined form of study during the 2nd term in the week from November 2 to November 5, 2020 will take place exclusively remotely (on-line) according to the published schedules in the IHM Information System (IHM IS). Testing and office hours will also take place remotely. All internal academic workers must have their office hours in the range of 2x 90 minutes per week.

Office hours

All internal academic workers of IHM are obliged to continue to have office hours in the period from October 22, 2020 until further notice, in the range of 2 x 90 minutes per week, exclusively remotely (on-line). External academic workers should allow students to consult remotely (online) for 30 minutes per week. Consultations concerning the processing of final qualification theses (bachelor's theses, diploma theses) take place exclusively remotely (on-line).

Practice

From October 22, 2020 until further notice, students' participation in the practice is prohibited.

Testing

In the period from October 22, 2020 until further notice, testing of students in their personal presence in the school building is prohibited, beyond the crisis measure approved by the Government of the Czech Republic on October 19, 2020, No. 1074, which allows testing of students in their personal presence in the number of a maximum of 10 people. Testing until further notice is only possible remotely (online).

Credits and examinations registration for students into their study reports

In the period from October 14, 2020 until further notice, the evaluation of subjects is not recorded by academic workers into students' study reports (indexes) in the school building. Students who will take the state final examination in January 2021 do not have to have the evaluation of individual subjects registered in their indexes. This will be automatically waived. The decisive factor is evaluation and the number of credits registered in the IHM IS.

State Final Examination in January 2021

With regard to the unfavourable epidemic situation, the deadlines resulting from the IHM Rector's Measure No. 1/2020 are being adjusted - Submission of bachelor's and master's theses and completion of studies in the academic year 2019/2020 are adjusted as follows:

  • the deadline for registering for the state final examination is maintained, in the period from October 26 to November 15, 2020 via the IHM IS;
  • the deadline for submitting the bachelor's / diploma thesis in the electronic version to the IHM IS is extended until Sunday, December 20, 2020;
  • the deadline for submitting the bachelor's / diploma thesis in printed version (1x hard, 2x ring binding) is extended until Thursday, January 14, 2021, while copies of the thesis can be submitted in person to the IHM Study Department or sent by post to IHM – Study Department, Svídnická 506/1, 181 00 Prague 8;
  • the deadline for submitting study reports (indexes) is set until Thursday, January 14, 2021, while students do not have to have subject evaluations in their indexes, the evaluation and the number of credits registered in IHM IS is decisive;
  • the deadline for inserting the reviews of supervisors and opponents of bachelor's / diploma theses into the IHM IS is maintained, until Friday, January 15, 2021.

If the law on the operation of universities during the pandemic period is approved for another period (after January 1, 2021) and if the legal regulation allows, IHM will allow students to take state final exams both in person (in the personal presence of students at school building when specific hygiene conditions are met) and remotely (online).

Enrolment sheet on the topic of the bachelor's / diploma thesis

The student is obliged to send by e-mail a scanned hand-signed enrolment sheet generated in IHM IS to his / her supervisor, who will sign it and submit it to the Study Department.

Diploma and diploma supplement, study reports

The diploma and the diploma supplement are issued by the Study Department from  October 1, 2020 to a specific graduate against a handwritten signature on receipt of the document; it is also possible to issue the diploma and the diploma supplement on behalf of a person on the basis of a verified power of attorney. The office hours of the IHM Study Department have been adjusted (see below).

Study reports (indexes) will be handed over to first-year students by the IHM Study Department as soon as the epidemic situation allows.

Other

Vocational teaching for subjects guaranteed by the Department of Hotel Management - this practical part of teaching will be substituted as soon as the epidemic situation allows.

Ceremonies(inauguration, matriculation, graduation) are cancelled until further notice.

The admission procedure for the academic year 2020/2021 ends on October 30, 2020.

All excursions, student events and lifelong learning courses are cancelled until further notice.

Requests for conferences and requests to change the topic of the bachelor's / diploma thesis or change the name of BT/DT are submitted only in electronic form in Word without a handwritten signature.
