Selection procedure

The selection procedure for ERASMUS study/work stay programs takes place twice a year at IHM in the spring and autumn. The final selection procedure for the following academic year takes place in April, with a selection procedure for unfilled spaces taking place in November.

Selection takes place in front of a three-member commission made up of: the program coordinator, Vice-rector for the Academic Affairs, and the head of the Department of Languages.

The selection procedure is announced on the school web page, school intranet, and the ERASMUS program bulletin board three weeks in advance.

Students participating in the selection procedure must submit::

  • Curriculum Vitae and cover letter in the language of the country they will be travelling to, or in English
  • Transcript for the last completed semester, or certificate from the language or specialized course

The commision will evaluate the student’s motivation and goals for the stay abroad, and his/her activities in the program (for example, assisting incoming students, etc.)

Students must be present for the selection procedure.

Information for students with disabilities or special needs

If you have higher costs due to your state of health, but you would like to participate in a study or work stay abroad as part of the Erasmus program, you may request a special grant from the National Agency for disabled students.

A prerequisite for the special grant is to meet the basic conditions for mobility of students. The grant is intended to cover extra expenses abroad, as a result of health needs. Expenses must be accounted for!

The application must be submitted on a specific form ("Application for special grant for disabled students for the academic year 2010/2011“) in which the applicant provides a detailed calculation of the grant requested. Applicants must attach:

  • a medical report
  • a copy of the ZTP pass (if the applicant is a holder)
  • Erasmus documents for the relevant mobility program - application
  • study contract / work plan
  • acceptance letter

Deadline for applications:

  • no later than 15 July 2010 for stays abroad during the winter semester or for the entire       academic year;
  • no later than 1 December 2010 for stays abroad during the summer semester.

The request will be considered by the Steering Committee of the Erasmus program.

For further information, please contact either the National Agency or the Erasmus coordinator at your school.

Repeat participation in student mobility for the ERASMUS program

The European Commission has stipulated the following rules for repeat participation in student mobility for the ERASMUS program:

  • During his or her studies at a tertiary institution, a student may participate only one time in an ERASMUS study program (this includes study stays abroad with or without stipends, i.e. zero-grant student).
  • During his or her studies at a tertiary institution, a student may participate only one time in an ERASMUS work program (this includes work stays abroad with or without stipends, i.e. zero-grant student).
  • The maximum length that a student may stay abroad within the framework of the ERASMUS program is 24 months.

Students without stipends (i.e. zero-grant students)

  • Students who have not been granted a stipend may also participate in study / work stays as part of the Erasmus program.Such students are also awarded the status of „Erasmus student“ in the Erasmus program  which  allows them to take full advantage of the benefits.
  • With the exception of the amount and payment of the stipend, students without stipends are subject to all of the above eligibility criteria and rules under the financing agreement.
