For international applicants

IHM in Prague 8 offers curriculum for both Czech and international students with instruction in the Czech language. In order for students to successfully fulfill their responsibilities – lectures, seminars, exercises, written work, exams and tests, theses, etc., all students, including foreigners, must be able to write and communicate in Czech on at least a B1 level (in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for languages)

International applicants should familiarize themselves with the required knowledge of the Czech language for study at the Institute of Hospitality Management including sample questions from the „Czech for Foreigners“placement test (level B1).

Grammar: all noun cases, verb forms and tenses, sentence structures, basic standard phraseology

Vocabulary: for common everyday and social situations

  1. Basic communication ability and skills, appropriate reactions in common everyday situations – for example, family, school, work, health, housing, transportation, shopping, dealings in bureaucratic offices, leisure time, etc.
  2. Listening: understanding general information in different environments, cultural and sporting events, news of transportation, weather, etc.
  3. Writing and reading: proper business correspondence, curriculum vitae, official documents. Understanding offers from travel agencies, hotels and companies; advertisements, maps, travel guides, programs of courses, schools, schedules, etc.
